Developped by DrinklBox Studio, Guacamelee was well received by players and press alike. DrinkBox decided to port Guacamelee to PS4.

"When launched Guacamelee!, we were surprised by extraordinary feedback we received from the community", said Ryan MacLean, DrinkBox Studio co-founder. "Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition takes the solid and reactive gameplay that fans love and we improved it with new content we always wanted to put in the game.

Let's see if this is true.

Story

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is a 2D adventure game that takes place in an small mexican town. The action takes place between the worlds of the living and the dead. Driven by the Mexican Folklor, players control Juan Aguacate, an unluky Wrestler who is going fight a hord of skeleton ennemies in order to stop Carlos Calaca, the Big Bad Guy, from receiving the ultimate power that would be given to him through the sacrifice of the beautifull "El Presidente daughter's".

Just like  every good adventure game, our hero has develop his powers, learn new moves to improvehis  Luchador's talents. Punches, kicks, special moves allow you to fight skeletons that stand between you and your "SweetHeart".  Regular moves associated with the special ones, give you a large range of technics.

Gameplay

Guacamelee! is a subtil mix of Plateform and Beat'em All. Fights are nervous and intense, players will have the possibility to throw ennemies on walls or other ennemies. Your power will help you during Battle phases, but, when it comes to plateform phases you will have to be careful and smart.

To help you fight your ennemies a new feature has been added, the "Intenso" mode which increases damages and speed.

In Guacamelee, you find all the mecanics that have made Plateform Game successful: Double Jump, Wall Jump (Prince Of Persia like), and Combos that are not easy to realize, a spicy combination  for this game with Mexican touch. Because when you execute a Double Jump, a Wall jump and a dimension switch (Living to Dead worlds switch) at the same time, your fingers are gonna get tangled pretty fast.

Conclusion

Guacamelee! on PayStation 4 is a success like on PS3 and PSVita, although, we would have loved for Juan to have a voice. One of positive points is that all the game's DLCs are included in this PS4 version, it will increase the life span of the game, You will need around 20 hours  are to finish the game if you are not in a hurry.

If you have not played Guacamelee! on PS3 or PSVita yet, go for it on PS4 it is worth it.
